What To Look For When Choosing A Repellent Insect Spray
In certain conditions to prevent our skin from being eaten alive by pesky insects most of us rely on repellent insect sprays and creams. These products are made from a variety of different materials, and can be used alone or along with other systems of protection such as mosquito nets. As we all know, it’s important to avoid insect bites because they can carry disease as well as cause a lot of discomfort and pain. Trying to decide which of the products to use is not an easy task, especially if you have never experienced dealing with the potential dangers while visiting, working or living in harsh environments.
Every one is different and this applies also to how we react to the various chemicals contained in different products. What is right for one person can be wrong for someone else. So it’s no surprise that there’ll be a certain amount of trial and error involved in finding the right product. Another fact to consider is whether you will be traveling alone or with other members of your family. When traveling with children, you will need to ensure that the products you decide to use for them are safe for their sensitive skin.
If you have issues with using harsh chemicals, then this can also be an important deciding factor in finding the best repellent insect solution for you. In some way or other, all chemical based insect repellents react with the skin and with prolonged use there are inevitable side effects. Natural insect repellents can do the job with much less risk to the skin. The problem is that the natural products are not as powerful as the chemical based solutions. In mosquito infested areas just using a net is not very practical. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you find the most powerful chemical based repellent insect spray to use in these harsh environments.
If you are in a low to moderate risk area of being bitten, and you don’t mind applying a solution frequently, then a natural solution is an excellent alternative. It lowers the risk of the skin becoming inflamed or irritated as a result of excessive application as one would expect from a chemical based solution. Natural solutions need to be applied at least three times as often as the most effective chemical based solutions. Applying a fresh application ever half an hour should to provide you with sufficient protection.
In addition to skin protection, you can find insect repellent chemicals for bedding and clothing. These chemicals will obviously come in to contact with the skin if they are used on clothing which is next to the body, but they will not be as serious a cause to worry about compared to the chemicals used for the skin. To achieve the most potent effect, these products will still need to be used in tandem with an effective insect repellent spray or cream.
